Bicycle Film Festival
Four fabulous days filled with films, parades, block parties, and rock shows – all bike themed. A mysterious, not-to-be-missed, TBA party kicks off the Bicycle Film Festival weekend on Thursday June 28, and Friday night opens the back-to-back film days with two great selections. Saturday the films roll all day long, and Sunday’s block party, which will include various bike games hosted by Orange 20 Bikes such as track stands, skids, foot down, backwards circles and a BMX bunny-hop contest, rounds out the film fest weekend just nicely.
Films that will be shown were hand selected from hundreds of submissions that came from all over the world, and include entries from the Neistat Brothers, Lucas Brunelle, and an award-winning feature film – Monkey Warfare, directed by Reginald Harkema. BikeCar, a story about a pedal-powered, 4-wheel road trip adventure, will feature on Friday night. Check out our interview with the dude who made the film and pedaled the bikecar.
For the last couple o’ years it’s been suggested that bike freaks should buy tickets well in advance. In 2006, over 40,000 people attended the Bicycle Film Festival in the United States, and this year the number is expected to triple. So I think it’s fair to say they ain’t cryin’ wolf – so get your tickets now.
Films Screen at The Vine Theatre 6321 Hollywood Blvd. June 29 and 30th
The Block Party happens Sunday, July 1st, in front of Orange 20 Bikes shop, located at 713 N. Heliotrope Road.
