Bike Week Pasadena: The First 4 Days
Bike Week Pasadena is cruising by!
C.I.C.L.E.’s week of events began with Bike Film Night hosted by Streetsblog. About 50 people turned out to watch a series of Streetfilms and quiz Damien Newton, the founder of L.A. Streetsblog. Several lucky raffle winners biked off with prizes from REI, New Belgium Brewing, LA Streetsblog, and Metro. Damien wrote a follow-up Streetsblog post and embedded the evening’s films for those who missed the event.
The rain stopped and the clouds broke for Tuesday’s Mayor’s Ride and Family Night. Families, friends, and city employees came together on a closed street, north of City Hall. Children (and possibly some adults) jumped around in an inflatable bouncer while others mingled, got maintenance advice at the REI tent, entered raffles, and ate Slammin’ Sliders. Mayor Bogaard kicked off the ride with a message encouraging the use of bicycles and reaffirming the city’s commitment to future-thinking transportation policies. Almost 70 participants, of all ages, joined the Mayor and C.I.C.L.E. for a ride around Pasadena’s Civic Center.
Wednesday’s Ladies Night drew 50 participants to the Paseo Colorado for a maintenance clinic, group ride, prizes, and Paseo discounts. The Luna Chix Team shared their passion for bicycles and their maintenance expertise with the attendees. After the clinic, C.I.C.L.E. Ride Leaders took the group on a 5 mile bicycle tour of Pasadena.
On Thursday, C.I.C.L.E. joined other exhibitors at the City of Pasadena’s Bike to Work Day Pit-Stop. Bicycle commuters stopped by City Hall from 6:30 to 8:30am to be treated to food, coffee, raffle prizes, and giveaways. Incycle even offered maintenance help to commuters at their tent. C.I.C.L.E. handed out Clif Bar care packages and bicycle commuting information. Although it was an early day for most, this special morning for bicycle commuters was festive and fun.
Bike Week Pasadena is not over yet! Join C.I.C.L.E. for the ArtNight Ride on Friday, Shopping By Bike and Fair Trade Ride on Saturday morning, and the Arroyo Seco Ride and Pedal Party on Saturday evening. Enter at any of the week’s events to win a New Belgium Brewing Cruiser or an REI Novara Buz One Bike. Kick off the weekend on a bicycle as Bike Week Pasadena continues!
