Charleston, SC - A family is pedaling 7,000 miles together on two wheels and Tuesday made a stop in Charleston. The Harrison family is geared up for a cross country trip, a journey of a life time with their six, four, and three year old daughters, all on one bicycle.
“Were riding it all the way to Alaska,” six-year-old Cheyenne said.
It’s a 7,000 mile trip the family started last month in Kentucky and will head to Fairbanks Alaska, armed with a mission.
“There’s talkers and there’s doers and were just doers,” Billy Harrison said.
“We’d been in Kentucky for over two years and we like to travel a lot and it started to shake so we came up with a plan and it started to be this,” Amarins Harrison said.
Overnight, the family camps out or stays in hotels, whatever comes their way.
“Were just on the road living our dream inspiring other people to live their dreams,” Amarins said.
Their journey doesn’t come without a few bumps in the road. A recent crash left a few scrapes and bruises, but it’s not enough to veer them off their path.
“Even though we fell over and had a problem, its all about risk. You get up and keep going and that’s what we want to teach our kids. You keep going and you stick it out no matter what,” Billy said.
After the family gets their bike fixed in West Ashley, they'll venture off to their next destination to Key Largo, Florida.
