Mangalore - A bicycle rally from the city to Amravati in
Andhra Pradesh is being organized by Tibetan students in the city, to
make the public aware of the violation of human rights in Tibet and
also demanding a ‘Free Tibet’.

Corporation was to inaugurate the rally in front of MCC office at
Lalbagh here, on Saturday December 24 at 9 am.
As per a release,
16 cyclists will participate in the rally, while nine more will join in
the rally, en route. The students will return by bus from Amravati. A
distance of 1,100 kilometres is expected to be covered by the rally in
eight days en route Hassan, Bangalore, Vellore, Chennai, Nellore,
Ongole and Vijayawada.
The release stated that in spite of
pressure from various international organizations, the basic rights of
Tibetans are denied – there is no freedom of speech, no freedom of
assembly, no freedom of press and no freedom of religion.
It also added that protesters against the Chinese rule are treated by the authorities as separatists and are punished severely.
