Metro Sponsors January Ride with APIOPA

Screenshot 2015-12-07 12.19.41Come and join us for our next ride on January 22nd, 2016 as we partner with APIOPA, Asian Pacific Islander Obesity Prevention Alliance. Their mission is to empower Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities to improve their health by proactively addressing social, cultural, environmental and political factors that contribute to the growing rates of obesity among API residents in Los Angeles County. Together, we’ve created a fun, family-friendly ride through the Pico Union community. More details coming soon!

Bikes and Batidos (Smoothies) Ride

IMG_1898On Saturday, November 21st C.I.C.L.E. joined our partner, Equitas Academy, for a Bikes and Batidos ride around the MacArthur Park Community. We began our journey at Lafayette Park Skate Plaza. We rode through a beautiful waterfall park near the old Bullocks Wilshire, now the Southwestern Law University, which is on the national registry for historic buildings. It’s been featured in numerous movies and backdrops for television. Our destination for the ride was SAY’s Raspados de Frutas Naturales for Bastidos. We enjoyed tasty flavors like pineapple, mango, and tamarindo! Other participants tried the raspados (shaved ice) like Diablito de mango made with real fruit and a touch of chili. There was also an opportunity to enjoy the vibrant pop up swap meet on South Westmoreland Avenue. The ride ended at MacArthur Park where some of our riders fed the Park’s famous ducks. In addition to the bike ride, Equitas Academy simultaneously lead a one mile walk to SAY’s Raspados for skateboarders, people on scooters, skaters and walkers.

Thanks to Metro for sponsoring this event and to our rockstar partners, Equitas Academy, for co-hosting such a great ride. High-fives to our volunteer team who kept riders safe, smiling and sailing smoothly.

Did You #optoutside During Thanksgiving?

IMG_2025Did you #optoutside instead of shopping on Thanksgiving? C.I.C.L.E. was on the Central Coast this Thanksgiving and rode the 20 miles from Lompoc to Los Alamos. Los Alamos was one of the original stagecoach stops between Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo in the 1800’s. Now it’s a thriving winery town. While many people shopped in this sleepy winery town, C.I.C.L.E. explored the wineries in Drum Canyon and enjoyed the panoramic scenery of the Santa Ynez Valley from Harris Grade Road. With Christmas and New Year’s holidays approaching, it’s a perfect opportunity to #optoutside with your bike and explore your surroundings. Traffic will be light and it doesn’t have to be a pre-planned trip. Just get out there. Roam and wander!
