LA Area bicyclists,

… To especially those of you who use and want
more Bike Paths and, along with John Forester,
those of you who want Bike Paths that
are  designed, built and maintained as real
transportation facilities to, at least, minimum
standards. The City of Los Angeles has been
shirking their responsibility… if they win, you
lose… even if you are never injured on a bike path.

Wednesday, Feb 28th at 1:00PM is the "day in court" for the
appeal we (CABO, CBC, LAB and others) have been
supporting to get the courts to tell the City of
Los Angeles and all other cities in California to
respect Bike Paths as transportation facilities,
not just as trails that they can build any way
they want and let deteriorate without worrying
about liability… "Returning Standards of Care to Bike Paths"

Anyway, it seems to me that having in the
courtroom a lot of bicyclists would be a good
thing; show the judges and others that this isn't
just a case of one individual, David Prokop,
trying for a money damages, but an issue that
affects lots of us. I'm not looking for a noisy
or any confrontations – we won't be able to have
signs or to speak up during the event. Looking
like respectful (law abiding) bicyclists, maybe
with helmets, would carry the message appropriately I think.

Will you attend? Do you have a means to let people know, to invite them too?

John Forester and I will be driving up to
attend… hopefully in time to have lunch
somewhere beforehand. If you or others were
available, I'd like to meet maybe before the event….?

Thanks.
