Looking Back: Spintacular Fireworks Neighborhood Ride!

On Sunday, June 28, 2015, bicyclists of all ages zipped through northeast LA for the Spintacular Fireworks Neighborhood Ride with the Eagle Rock Neighborhood Council (ERNC), The Bike Oven, the NELA Bicycle Friendly Business District (BFBD), and Metro. The community bicycle ride to Councilmember Jose Huizar’s 6th Annual 4th of July Fireworks Show started at the Metro Gold Line Highland Park Station and made several stops to explore street innovations. Mark Vallianatos of the Occidental Urban and Environmental Policy Institute led a guided neighborhood walking tour of local projects before we made our way to the fireworks show. It was a perfect evening under the stars and under a dazzling show of fireworks and music!

Thanks to Metro for sponsoring this event and to our rockstar partners, NELA Bicycle Friendly Business Disctrict and The Bike Oven, for co-hosting such a great ride. And, high-fives to our volunteer team who kept riders safe, smiling and sailing smoothly.

Miss the ride? Retrace your steps (or pedals) any time with these turn by turn directions.

Ride in Review:  #BikeInstead –  The Silver Lake Picture Show Ride

Last month, we held a Metro mini-miler as part of the #BikeInstead campaign. Riders met at the Metro Los Angeles Santa Monica and Vermont Red Line Station to skip the traffic and parking hassels and sailed over to the Silver Lake Picture Show by bike!  We traveled with tunes and arrived early for the outdoor screening on the jumbotron for Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. Pre show entertainment included impromptu bicycle tricks and stunts, one of the highlights of the evening! Stay tuned for more #BikeInstead rides!
